Brandon readies for 4th of July parade
Brandon’s Community Roundtable is getting ready for its annual 4th of July Parade. The route will be about two miles long. The theme this year will be the 60th Anniversary - Honorary Mayor’s Race.
Local businesses and organizations are signing up to bring their musical marchers, vocals, and krewes. There will the usual amateur performances and floats as well as the professional floats and decorated vehicles. Local schools will send their youth cheerleader squads and of course there will be a plethora of marching units. There will also be colorfully decorated bicycles, horses, walkers and motorcycles. All cars, vehicles and floats will have live or recorded music. Some entries will have people passing out handouts, candy, beads and trinkets to persons along the parade route.
Many units will perform at the Reviewing Stand. Each unit will have one minute.
Some entries may still have to get some banner printing done soon as all units must have identifying signage.
Food vendors will have spaces along Parsons and Robertson Avenues. They will be serving, among other treats, popcorn, slushies, cotton candy, peanuts, water, soft drinks, candy apples and funnel cakes.
The parade route will begin at the corner of Parsons Avenue and Lumsden Road in front of the Reed and Reed Office and will end at the corner of Robertson Street and Buckingham Place.
The Brandon 4th of July Parade will step off at 10:00 am.
