Brandon dives with sharks

Brandon shark, lobster, and diving enthusiasts will get to experience all three in Woods & Water’s Dive with Sharks weekend coming in a couple of weeks.

It will begin with a Shark Ecology Course held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, February 15 at 124 Edwards Avenue.

Soon after, divers will meet at Woods & Water at 7:30 am on Saturday, February 17 and depart at 8:00 am. Everyone will get to Boynton Beach Splashdown Diver, 735 Casa Loma Boulevard, Slip 19 around 12:30 pm. The boat will leave the slip at 1:00 pm for the 45-foot to 65-foot two-tank Reef Dive, returning around 5:00 pm.

On Sunday, February 18, everyone will meet at the Emerald Charters Boat, 25 N Coastal Way, Jupiter, at 8:00 am. The boat will leave at 8:30 am. The first dive will be an 80-foot Reef Drift Dive, and the second will be a 60-foot Shark Dive. Lunch will be provided, after which the second 60-foot Shark Dive will begin. The boat will return to the dock around 2:00 pm.

Those with valid Saltwater Fishing Licenses and Lobster Stamps may take home up to 12 lobsters per person. Shark species that may be seen may be seen include nurse, hammerhead, tiger, bull sandbar, lemon, and black tip reef. Divers may also see other marine fish, shrimps, crabs, rays, eels, and turtles.

People who enjoy diving often take pictures during their exploits. These photos may go to local print shops for duplicates for family and friends.
