What's Happening in Brandon, FL…

Brandon demonstrates patriotism with celebration

Veterans Day will be here soon and the local shopping center will be presenting a celebration to honor active military and local veterans. The event will also be welcoming the runners from Old Glory Relay, who have been carrying an American flag across the USA.

The evening’s festivities will begin with emcee Roxanne Wilder, a Q105 radio personality taking the stage to introduce local veteran speakers and the live entertainment.

The venue will have locations where guests may take patriotic photos, perhaps to go into many yearly family calendars.

A welcoming parade will greet the Red, White, and Blue Team as it arrives at the center. The parade will consist of the Tampa Bay Lightning Rolling Thunder, the ThunderBug mascot, Daily Troop 33124, Boys Scout Troop 39, Brownie Troop 33109, and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.

The event will have pop-ups where guest can learn about our community veteran organizations’ programs and services. Some of these will be the Art Program for Vets, Marine Families and American Gold Star Mothers. Other organizations will be the Veterans Outreach Program, AmVets National Service Foundation, and VIP Warriors.

Local organizations and groups will be there to entertain the children with a bounce house, patriotic-themed arts, and crafts and face painting. MOSI will have a large telescope on site for viewing the stars.

The Veterans’ Celebration will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Westfield Brandon, 459 Brandon Town Center, Brandon, on November 11.
