Brandon chamber offers communication class
Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce will be the venue for a four-week class on communicating effectively.
A certified John Maxwell coach, speaker and teacher, Kris Beaird, will be conducting the course, the fundamental concept of which is the belief that the ability to connect is a skill and can be taught. This skill can be used in both personal and business conversations.
The course will cover the five principles and five practices that everyone needs to develop in order to truly connect with listeners. The workshop will be based on a book by John C. Maxwell, a New York Times bestselling author, titled ‘Everyone Communicates, Few Connect’. It describes what effective people do differently when they converse with others.
Some areas that will be covered are finding common ground, capturing people’s interest, staying authentic, inspiring people, and keeping communication simple.
The book and a notebook will be distributed to guests at the first meeting. Guests may wish to bring their digital business cards and practice these newly acquired skills with other guests.
The first of the four sessions will be Thursday, July 13 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at the Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce, 330 Pauls Drive, #100, Brandon. The remaining three sessions will be at the same time and location on the next three consecutive Thursdays: July 20, July 27, and August 3.
