Brandon Ballet celebrates 30 years
Brandon classic dance enthusiasts will be delighted to learn that the Brandon Ballet will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with its annual Spring Gala performance here in town toward the end of April.
Dancers will be performing excerpts from "Don Quixote."
The evening's performance will also include "The Iron Flower", an original ballet by Brandon Ballet's Artistic Director, Brent Townend with music composed by Damien Simon.
The Iron Flower is a ballet about an iron Flower Castle, an empty sepulcher that returns to its original splendor when entered by a young girl, Grace. Upon viewing the majestic scene, Grace helps a man who has been imprisoned in the dungeon escape to the outside world with an iron-colored flower he plucks from a flowered woman sculpture.
He returns as an old man in Act 11, and after returning the flower to the statue, he once again becomes young and observes flowers dancing in the garden. At sunrise he returns the flower on his chest back to the statue and returns home an old man.
Advance tickets to this performance will be $30 for adults, $25 for senior citizens, $15 for Homeschoolers and tickets will go up $5 at the door.
Families of performers in presentations like this often take pictures of their budding dancers to local print shops for duplicate copies for other family members and friends.
Brandon Ballet's Spring Gala celebration will take place April 27th beginning at 7:30 pm at Riverview High School, 11611 Boyette Road, Riverview.
