Brandon area celebrates art of improvisation
In a couple of weeks, the Brandon area will get an opportunity to see 45 solo, duo and trio improv comedy acts from our area, around the state and nation at the Countdown Improv Festival.
The acts will be on two stages. Two tickets options will be available for the main stage - $50 weekend passes will admit attendees to all the main stage acts presented over the three nights, while nightly passes will cost $30.
The L.E. Zarling Stage is new this year and will be dedicated to high-energy, boundary-pushing, experimental improv. Tickets will be $20.
On the Thursday night, August 15, from 7:00 pm until 11:15 pm, 10 acts from around Florida will be giving 20-minute time slots to show their improvisational expertise.
Friday, August 16, from 6:00 pm until 11:30 pm, 13 performances are on tap. Some hail from around Florida such as Jupiter (Robbery), Orlando (Scharf&Waldon), and B-Team Improv from Miami. Others are from farther away such as Chicago (Playtime with Patrick and Preston), Denver (Katie and Chris), and Portland, Oregon (Bryan vs. Music).
On Saturday, the main stage will have 15 performances from 5:00 pm until 11:30 pm, while the L.E. Zarling Stage will feature eight performances from 7:15 pm until 9:45 pm.
Attendees from Brandon may want to see if their favorite groups have any business cards with them so they can get in touch with them for bookings.
The festival will be at HCC Studio Theatre, 1411 E. 11th Avenue, Tampa.
