Black Cat 5k runs for felines
Many Brandon runners will be donning their Halloween finery and heading over to the third annual Black Cat 5k Fun Run in mid-October.
Participants may either enjoy the untimed 5k run/walk or the one mile walk on the looped course around the lake.
The in-person 5k will cost $40, and the Virtual 5k will cost $30. Late registration for October 8 through 13 will be $50.
Registration and check-in will begin at 8:15 am, the 5k will begin at 8:45 am, and the one-mile walk will start five minutes later at 8:50 am. Swag includes T-shirts featuring the black cat and light purple event graphic design, finisher medals, goodie bags, and complimentary beverages and snacks at the finish line.
Awards will go to the overall female, male and youth finishers in the 5k, and to the children, pet, and adult winners in the costume contest. Participants are encouraged to fundraise, and special prizes will go to the top three.
Packets will be available between 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 18 at Brandon’s Fleet Feet, 1934 E. Bloomingdale Avenue.
The after party will have a kids’ area with activities and prizes, a DJ with music, a silent auction, raffle, and a variety of vendors. Proceeds will go to A Kitten Place, a kitten and cat rescue center here in Brandon.
