What's Happening in Brandon, FL…

Area museum showcases two iconic artists

The Dali Museum in Fort Lauderdale is now showing the exhibition ‘Picasso / Dali, Dali / Picasso’. It will be on display until February.

Dali and Picasso are two of the most well-known artists in history and this is one of the few exhibitions (if any have occurred at all) in which their works have been shown together. It features more than 80 works by both artists including paintings, drawings, sculpture, and prints, and was organized by the Dali Museum and the Museu Picasso, Barcelona. The aim is to show how each artist was influenced by the times in which he lived.

Several related events are also taking place at the museum this January. On January 7, guests can have coffee with the curator, Lynn Whitelaw, who will be discussing ‘Pablo Picasso, Guernica and the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art’. Also, ‘Yo Cubed’ is a Picasso self-portrait workshop to be held on January 10 in which people can create their own cubist art.

Art lovers from all over, including nearby Brandon, will not want to miss this exhibition. Local print companies may have been asked to help advertise by providing brochures or flyers.

The two artists’ work is on display at the Dali Museum until February 16. Admission is $24 for adults, $22 for seniors, $17 for children between 13 and 17, and $10 for children aged 6 to 12.
