Children aged 5 to 12 are invited to enter the 14th annual Fire Charity Kids Fishing Tournament in Bradenton next month.
Organized by a committee of East Manatee firefighters, the derby is a fundraising event in support of the Children’s Burn Foundation of Florida.
Since its inception in 2006, the event has raised enough money through sponsorships and fees to allow hundreds of children to attend a yearly specialized camp. The camp provides young burn survivors with a comfortable place to heal and build self-confidence among peers. In addition to the camps, funds have assisted with gifts, medical costs, and more. The charity has allowed many children the opportunity to enjoy active and full lives.
The fishing tournament entry fee is $20 per child. Prizes will be issued to first, second, and third place fishers in ages 5 to 8, and 9 to 12 categories. More than fishing, the event takes on a festival atmosphere with live music and onsite food vendors. Spectators can attend for free and are encouraged to enjoy lunch while they keep an eye on the scales, where lucky fishers will weigh their catches.
Food and beverage businesses that set up for events such as this often use poster printing to advertise their products.
The Fire Charity Kids Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 7 beginning at 8:00 am at Rossi Park Riverfront in Bradenton.
