Top lineup of films coming to southwest Florida

The 17th Annual Sarasota Film Festival will be returning to downtown Sarasota very soon. Those who live in Bradenton and surrounding communities who are interested in independent films will no doubt want to attend, as Sarasota is central to the area.

There will be close to 300 independent productions, including documentaries, features, shorts, and kid-friendly movies. Special movies will be held at the Sarasota Opera House to mark the opening and closing nights, in addition to a red carpet soiree Opening Night Film and Party and the annual Closing Night Film with Filmmaker Tribute Awards.

Several renowned and accomplished actors will be at the festival, including Jane Seymour, Rachel Weisz, and Cloris Leachman, as well as director James Ponsoldt, as they present the Narrative Centerpiece of the Festival, ‘The End of the Tour’. Director Ondi Timoner will also be on hand to present the Documentary Centerpiece, ‘A Second Coming’.

There will also be 30 films created by artists living and working in Sarasota and throughout the State of Florida. The Conversation Series will feature intimate discussions throughout the week with accomplished writers, stars, and directors, who will provide an in-depth look into their works.

The Sarasota Film Festival will be taking place from April 10 through April 19 with screenings at the Regal Hollywood 20 Theater on Main Street running from 10:00 am until midnight. Local Print companies may be involved in creating vibrant Posters to promote this festival in Bradenton and throughout the area.
