National oil painters convention comes to Bradenton

The 34th Oil Painters of America (OPA) national exhibition will be held in Bradenton as part of their annual convention next month.

The OPA is a non-profit group with over 3500 members in the US, Mexico and Canada. The cornerstone of OPA is providing opportunities for North American artists to enter national and world competitions. The organization aims to highlight public appreciation of light, color and composition in fine drawing.

In addition, OPA ensures art education is available to its members through correspondence, workshops and seminars. As such, it invites master artists to the annual exhibition and convention as mentors for aspiring painters.

Entries included in this year’s juried exhibition will feature the top representational paintings from more than 200 artists whose work spans a variety of themes and techniques. It will be held at the ArtsCenter Manatee, a spacious 10,000-square-foot building which is home to three galleries.

The opening of the month-long exhibition is being held at the same time as the OPA national convention, when artists will gather for lectures, social events, demonstrations and more. Attendees at large events such as this often use Business Cards for self-promotion.

The OPA exhibition starts on May 27, 2025 while the opening reception will be held May 30, 2025 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at 209 Ninth St W., in Bradenton.
