Light, sound, and speed at Bradenton regatta

There will be sparks flying in the sky and on the water at the 10th annual Bradenton Area River Regatta.

Known as the largest spectator event in Manatee County, the regatta is a free event held over two days that opens with the Friday Night Flash. It is a professionally choreographed light and music presentation of both a drone show and spectacular fireworks.

The next day follows with a full schedule of powerboat racing and fun family activities. The Formula 2 powerboat super league presents exhilarating racing at speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour. The regatta also features the largest tunnel boat race on the tour. Plus, a second class of race boats called the formula lights will entertain with their fast-paced precision twists and turns.

The regatta will bring a festival atmosphere to the river’s edge with a line-up of live music on two main stages. Kids can enjoy a range of games and fun activities such as bounce inflatables and a trained border collie dog show.

A beer garden will be open to adults and there will be concessions featuring food and beverages from area restaurants for the whole family. Vendors who participate in large spectator events such as this often use poster printing to feature their products.

The Bradenton Area River Regatta opens Friday, February 21 with the drone and fireworks show at 7:15 pm. Powerboat racing and other events will be held the following day, Saturday, February 22, along both sides of the Manatee River in Bradenton and neighboring Palmetto.
