Healthy Sarasota County looks for seven different health categories, the same seven categories that come from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Worksite Health ScoreCard, when identifying an organization that achieves excellence in employee wellbeing: illness prevention, stress reduction, lactation support, physical activity, drug-free worksite, tobacco cessation, and healthy eating. SCF met all of these qualifications through its ‘Pride in Wellness’ program, which offers its employees access to services such as Weight Watchers at Work, wellness seminars, and discounts to local gyms.
The wellness coordinator for SCF, Teresa Przetocki, said about the college’s recognition:
"We're thrilled to have received this designation. SCF is committed to healthy and happy employees; we think this award recognizes that commitment and the efforts we put into creating employee wellness programs that are fun and have a positive impact."
Currently, SCF holds the title of Healthy Sarasota County Worksite with only 14 other sites throughout Sarasota County.
