A special event is coming up in the Bradenton area as a way to highlight May as Women’s Bike Month.
The Village Idiots Cycling Club will be hosting its Women on Wheels 100 event for the second year in a row later this week. The event is free and for women only as a way to inspire more females to get involved in cycling. No doubt the organization is turning to a variety of printing services to let women know about the event and encourage their participation.
As an official USA Cycling Club, the Village Idiots advocate for the sport in the area and endeavor to support local charities. The Women on Wheels 100 event is supported by sponsorship fees from several businesses in the area, and funds left over from these fess will be added to those that the organization distributes to its designated charities at the end of the year.
There is complete support along the ride. The full route is 100 kilometers or 60 miles but there is a 40-mile option that riders can take. Bikes will be available along the ride should there be mechanical problems and, at the 20 and 40-mile points, there will be rest stops with Gatorade, water, food, and energy gels.
The event takes place this Saturday, May 17, beginning at 8:00 am on Lakewood Ranch Main Street.
