Flowers Baking Co. has recently completed the construction of a new retail outlet and distribution warehouse near downtown Bradenton.
The building is on 2.5 acres in the warehouse and manufacturing district in Bradenton and is across the street from the processing plant of Tropicana. It will serve as a wholesale distribution center for baked goods re-sellers and a discount retail store.
The facility is 14,360 square feet in size; 9,960 square feet of that space will be for warehouse and distribution operations while the remaining 4,400 square feet will be used for office space and retail activities. There are 16 docks for trucks, which will be small delivery trucks.
Flowers Baking Co. has already agreed to sell Tastykake and Nature’s Own brands, which are two of the brands owned by its parent company, Flowers Food based in Thomasville, Georgia.
Although public works officials from the city signed off on the building in early April, neither the local nor the parent company would comment on an opening date for the facility. Construction on the concrete block and steel building began last August by JoMar Construction of Clearwater.
Flowers Baking Co. might benefit from ad specialties to let those in the area know that they will be able to purchase their favorite brands of baked goods at discount prices in the near future.
