Sunset run and senior citizen activities set for July

Over 800 running and walking participants are expected to join in traversing the scenic and flat course that will begin and end at Penfield Beach.

Registration will be limited to 1000, and T-Shirts featuring the event graphic design will be available until they run out.

Both runners and spectators will get to enjoy an array of food truck specialties from local eateries like Taco Loco, Colony Grill, and Micallizi’s Italian Ice. There will be activities for the children and plenty of entertainment.

The free 1/10-mile Kids Scamper will begin on Fairfield Beach Road 6:15 pm. This race is limited to children 10 years old and under. The National Anthem and introductions will be at 6:25 pm followed by the computer chip-timed 5K Run/1-mile Walk at 6:30 pm. There will be a post-race party with awards in nine age groups presented at 7:15 pm. Dinner will be included in the 5k Run/Walk registration. Spectators and kids can get dinner tickets for $10.

All proceeds will go to senior activities at the Friends of the Bigelow Center and the Fairfield Police Union Scholarship Fund.

The 3rd Annual Fairfield Police Sunset 5K/1-mile Walk and Cops and Kids Scamper will take place at Penfield Beach, 323 Fairfield Beach Road, Penfield One Pavilion, Wednesday, July 22nd. Festivities will begin at 6:30 pm.
