For all Fairfield reggae fans who love all things Jamaican, it will soon be time for the Annual Mystic Bowie/ Bob Marley Birthday Bash.
Mystic Bowie, born in a little town in Jamaica (Maroon Town), has been touring the world since 1992 with his high-energy reggae vocals. Born Fitzroy Alexander Campbell, Mystic got his tribal name from the local elders, and is now looking to entertain on to mark what would have been his idol’s 70th birthday.
The performer been singing since he was seven years old when he took the microphone for the Jamaica Tourist Board. By the age of nine, he was making his first records. He will be returning to Fairfield for one night only with his annual birthday tribute to the legendary Bob Marley (whose birth date was February 6, 1945). Everyone will no doubt want to take pictures to capture all the energy for possible later poster printing.
Jamaican singer and songwriter Marley who popularized reggae during its height in the 1970s. Along with his group the Wailers, he sold more than 20 million records and became the first international superstar from the Caribbean. Some of his hit songs included ‘Three Little Birds’, ‘Buffalo Soldier’, and ‘Redemption Song’.
The musical event will be held at Fairfield Theatre Company’s Stage One, 70 Sanford Street on Saturday, February 7, starting at 7:45 pm.
