Fairfield’s Quick Center will present five programs in January 2022.
The year will begin with Mussorgsky’s “Boris Godunov” live from the Metropolitan Opera. Conductor, Sebastian Weigle will lead this production of the story of suffering and hope of the Russian people and their reigning tsar. Bass Rene Pape will play the title role of Boris. The live performance will be January 8, at 1:00 pm, and an encore performance will follow at 6:00 pm.
Massenet’s “Cinderella” will be another Metropolitan Opera: HD Live event coming on Sunday, January 9 with 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm performances. Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard will play Cinderella, mezzo-soprano Emily D-Angelo as the prince, and her Fairy Godmother will be sung by soprano Jessica Prat.
A pre-screening talk will be held at Dolan School of Business Event Hall and requires pre-registration.
Cardiologist Dr. Nieca Goldberg will give a book talk on women’s heart health, titled “Start off 2022 with Heart,” in the Literary Salon on Tuesday, January 25 at noon. This will be a virtual event and admission will be free.
On Saturday, January 29, at 1:00 and 6:00 pm, The Metropolitan Opera: HD Live will present Verdi’s Rigoletto. A pre-screening talk will also require pre-registration.
An in-person event, John Pizzarelli Big Band, will end the month on Sunday, January 30 at 3:00 pm.
