The 74th Annual Sweet Corn Festival will be coming to the Fairfield area in early September.
The 31st Ken Keener Classic 5k Run will be Saturday, September 4th at 9:00 am. Individual online preregistration will be $20 and race day rates will go up to $25. Swag will include T-Shirts sporting this year’s event graphic design. The course will be a loop by the Ohio & Erie Canal, past the Summerland Beach Hotel, the Ice Cream Factory turning around at Buckeye Lake and back to Lions Park.
Festival attractions will include a major prize drawing, free concerts like Jefferson Starship on Friday night and Terri Clark on Saturday evening and amusement rides and festival games.
Durant Amusements will offer thrill rides (Hurricane, Kamikaze, Orbiter), family rides (fun house, Dizzy Dogs, Ferris Wheel) and Kiddie rides (Canoes, Durant Railway, Flying Elephants).
Fairfield kids can ride ponies under the big tree located at the Covered Bridge. There will competitions for all ages. These will be tractor tug pulls, kiddie tractor pull, Laser Force Combat Course, talent show, and hula hoop, and corn eating contests.
Charitable, non-profit organizations will provide food and games at concessions booths. All proceeds go to the participating organization.
The 2021 Sweet Corn Festival will take place September 1st to the 4th at Lions Park, 2905 Chautauqua Blvd, Millersport.
