A Derby-Day charity gala has been scheduled for Fairfield in early May.
The Pequot Library will be hosting a Derby Day Celebration to raise funds for its programs. Attendees are asked to dress accordingly, and the Great Lawn will be regaled with festive attire including those colorful large Kentucky Derby-Day hats. Everyone is also encouraged to decorate their vehicle's tailgates. A silent auction will have items up for bids, and Derby Dollars ($5 each, book of 10 for $50, and $100 for book of 20) will be needed to enter the 50/50 raffle. Derby Dollars may also be used for Bourbon Wall purchases, horse voting for Derby winner, and Closest to the Pin competition entries.
Registration is $150 for individuals and $500 per couple.
Contests will include prizes and trophies for win, place and show for best tailgate, and best hat, dressed lady and dressed gentleman.
The Tailgate Ticket holders' Pre-party will begin at 3:00 pm followed by the Derby-Day party at 4:00 pm. The Run for the Roses will be shown on the auditorium's big screen at 6:50 pm with the after party in the Main Tent at 7:00 pm.
Patrons of organizations like this often have some flyer printing done to get the word out about their fundraising events.
Derby Day will take place May 4th at the library at 720 Pequot Avenue.
