Howard Schatz exhibition coming to town

Fairfield Photography buffs, or those that appreciate art, need to make a note of an exhibition featuring work by photographer Howard Schatz that will be coming to town soon. The showcase is in honor of the 25 years he has been taking pictures for a living.

Schatz has made a name for himself by taking unique and interesting pictures of the human body, though he also covers many other subjects. He has had 20 Books of his pictures published and his work is regularly shown around the country, and in many other nations.

Many may not realize that before Schatz took up photography, he was an ophthalmologist specializing in retinal diseases and repair, in California. His career has taken him many places but now he calls Connecticut home. Attendees may want to bring digital Business Cards for exchanging with fellow patrons.

Highlights of the evening will include photographs from his 2012 exhibition and book ‘At the Fights: Inside the world of professional boxing’, and his 2012 ‘With Child’ collection that demonstrates a lifelong fascination with the human body. These pictures span nearly his entire career.

The exhibit, called ‘Howard Schatz: 25 Years of Photograph’, will be held at the Fairfield Museum and History Center, 370 Beach Rd. Thursday May 14th, from 7-10pm. Admission is $5 (students $6, children under five free), though additional gratuities are always gratefully received.
