Holiday train event opens this month

Although Fairfield’s annual Santa Arrival, Tree Lighting and many of the Fairfield Museum’s holiday workshops have been cancelled this year, Fairfield Museum will be opening its annual Holiday Express Train Show in a few weeks.

Central Connecticut G-Gaugers, The Housatonic Model Railroad Club and the Connecticut G-Scalers Club have made this event possible. Club members will be setting up their model trains in all their holiday finery.

Guests must register online for specific times and dates. No walk-ins will be allowed. Each guest will be allowed 50 minutes to take in the show. Children and museum members can get free tickets, while all others will pay $5 per person.

The museum will follow CDC protocols, so patrons must wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines.

Patrons wishing to show support for their local museums, especially during this time, often make special efforts to buy items from the museum’s gift shops. Many shops have Promotional Products with the museum’s graphic design or logo on them.

The opening day of The Holiday Express Train Show will be Friday, November 27 and hours will be 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Fairfield Museum, 370 Beach Road.

The show will continue until Sunday, January 3. Hours from Monday through Friday will be 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, and from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
