Fairfield music fans who love rock, country and electric blues, especially those with a passion for guitar, will want to clear a space in their schedule this weekend, as guitarist Albert Lee stops by.
Lee is a British R&B guitarist, and one of a group of musicians who played rockabilly in the 60s and 70s. Notably, Guitar Player magazine named Albert Lee the ‘Best Country Guitarist’ five years in a row.
Lee will be playing standards that many in attendance will likely recognize, along with tunes from his various solo projects, and some selections from his soon to be released album ‘Off the Cuff.” Attendees may wish to bring cameras and other photo-taking devices for photos and selfies for later postcard printing.
In recent decades, Lee has become a recording session player and has backed up the likes of Joe Cocker, the Everly Brothers, and Eric Clapton. He has also been a part of such bands as the Thunderbirds and has played with solo acts like Emmylou Harris , Bo Diddly, and Jerry Lee Lewis. Brad Paisley, the West Virginia-based country singer and songwriter, recently described Lee as one of his “all-time guitar gods”.
Lee’s performance will be given this Sunday, August 17, at StageOne of the Fairfield Theater Company, 70 Sanford Street, Fairfield. Doors open at 7:00 pm.
