More than 6,500 friends and neighbors are expected to participate in the upcoming 2016 Travelers Walk MS here in Fairfield.
Teams are encouraged. Runners can form their own teams or join an existing team when they register.
Participants, on an average, raise around $250. This walk is one of many organized throughout the United States to raise funds for eradicating Muscular Dystrophy, and for aiding those people who have it.
STAR 99.9 and The Band of Heroes will be providing music. Kids will be able to get their faces painted, and team photos can be taken. Sacred Heart University will be giving out free light refreshments, while characters from movies, comics, and television meander throughout the crowd to meet the children.
Participants are encouraged to bring gently worn boots, cleats, sneakers, shoes, and handbags to donate to ‘Shoes for the Cause’.
There is also a virtual walker category in the registration procedure that allows those who are either unable or unwilling to participate to raise funds for the event.
Those in the walk may want to get some banner printing done to carry items describing their team or displaying their slogan or logo.
The event is scheduled for tomorrow, April 16, at Jennings Beach. Check in will start at 9:00 am and the walk will start an hour later. The walk will begin in the Jennings Beach Parking Lot.
