The 3rd Annual Sunset 5k will be taking place toward the latter end of July. The event will also include a 1/10 mile Kids Cops Scamper and a one-mile walk. Over 800 runners are expected to attend.
The start and finish line will be at Penfield One Pavilion at Penfield Beach, 323 Fairfield Beach Road. The course for all two races and walk will be a flat, scenic and quiet.
The race benefits the Friends of the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities and the Fairfield Police Union Scholarship Fund.
Food trucks such as Taco Loco, Saugatuck Sweets, colony Grill and Micallizi’s Italian Ice will be at the finish line for the post party. There will also be kids’ activities, more food, and entertainment.
Tickets will be $40 on race day if the limit of 1,000 has not already been reached. The Kids and Cops Scamper will be free. Dinner is included in the race and walk, but not in the scamper. Spectators and other attendees can purchase meal tickets for $10. T-Shirts sporting the event’s Logo Design are guaranteed to early registrants until July 8th. After that, they will be “as available.”
The Kids Scamper will begin at 6:15 pm on July 22. The National Anthem and Introductions will begin at 6:25 pm and the 5k and one-mile walk will start at 6:30 pm.
