Anyone passionate about music is invited to perform, present, or just listen as part of the free Make Music Fairfield event coming later this month.
Made possible by the support of the Office of the Arts Connecticut Department of Economics, the Fairfield Theatre Company, and the Town of Fairfield, this free celebration will be open to all ages, skill levels, and music genres from church choirs, singers, and jazz combos to glee clubs, marching bands, rock bands, and mariachis. Artists will be playing in local venues such as homeowners' lawns, front porches, storefronts, and parking lots.
Around 30 locations will be presenting more than 60 artists from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm, including The Flatts, Bill Dempsey, Fairfield Center Stage, Harmony on the Sound, and Roots Oscura. Some locations will be Jennings Beach, Trader Joes, the Pequot Library, South Port Front Porch, Fairfield Public Library, and the Fairfield Museum and History Center. Guitarist Mike Stark will be performing at his own residence at 20 River Lane from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. An open jam session will run from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm at 20 Alden Street.
The opening ceremony and eight performances will take place at the Sherman Green Gazebo, 1435 Post Road. Groups that perform together may wear matching T-Shirts sporting their organization's name or Logo Design.
