Teen and adult bibliophiles will no doubt be delighted to know that the Fairfield Public Library has not only put some of their programs online, but created an unusual book club too.
Instead of sticking to one genre such as mysteries, fiction, or non-fiction, A Different Kind of Book Club, will feature a different book genre monthly usually on the first Monday.
For August, the genre was Classics. On Monday, September 14, the discussion will be Fantasy; on October 5 it will revolve around History; in November the topic will be Gift Giving: Cookbooks; and the last topic of the year on December 7 will be Holiday Settings in Mysteries and Romances.
Fairfield librarians will facilitate the discussions. Each program will begin with an overview of history, favorite authors, and seminal works of the genre. Next will be a round robin in which everyone can share their favorite works from that genre. Those new to the program can opt out of the round robin if they so choose.
Registration is required and can be done on the library’s website. Participants will get the Zoom link in their email on event day. All programs will begin at 6:30 pm and end around 8:00 pm.
Although the library programs are free, patrons sometimes support them by direct donations to the library, or through purchase of library Promotional Products such as tote Bags.
