Fairfield joins Worldwide Make Music Day

To celebrate the summer solstice, Fairfield Theatre Company and the Town of Fairfield are hosting Make Music Fairfield next month.

The festival will be coming to a variety of venues in Fairfield in June, and its theme is “Music by the people, for the people.” This event correlates with the other 725 cities around the globe hosting Make Music Day.

Make Music Fairfield is putting out a call for professional and amateur musicians, singers and rappers to perform music from any genre from zydeco and bluegrass, to classical and jazz. Groups can include glee clubs, church choirs, rock and marching bands, jazz combos and mariachis. All skill levels and age groups will be welcome.

The event will be free and venues will be anywhere around town that can accommodate a performer and an audience. Along with the standard performance venues, people will be playing and listening in parks, garages and on front porches. Attendees are invited to stroll from one venue to another as the music makers take turns performing. Many will be toting their own lawn chairs and blankets.

Music connoisseurs and aficionados that enjoy events such as this often do a little flyer printing so they can get the information out to neighbors, friends, and co-workers.

Make Music Fairfield will be Sunday, June 21 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
