Fairfield golfs for good causes

Two local golfing events have been scheduled for May.

Fairfield Parks and Recreation will hold its Glow on the Green in mid-May. This will be a hole-in-one contest with an accompanying outdoor event. At Glow-on-the-Green, the golfer who makes a hole-in-one on the 135-yard fairway will receive $10,000.

All golfers must pre-register and tickets will be $25. Glow-in-the-dark balls will be provided. Tickets for non-golfers will be $10. Both types of tickets will include one beverage voucher, live music, and giveaways.

Glow on the Green will take place Friday, May 14 from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm at the H. Smith Richardson Golf Course, 2425 Morehouse Highway.

Golf foursomes will be vying for this year’s United Cup at the United We Golf. Proceeds will go to Rebuilding Stronger campaign, an organization helping local residents get back on their feet financially.

The winning duos with the lowest score pocket $200, and the team with the highest score gets $50. Local restaurants have donated Gift Certificates for the raffles.

Challenges include forcing a team to putt while wearing oven mitts (cost $100), and forcing all players on a team to tee-off from the blue tee on the first hole ($25 per challenge). Team members can pay $25 to move up to the red tee.

Sponsors will get their business Logo Design on event signage.

United We Golf will be begin at 10:00 am on May 17th at Tashua Knolls Golf Club and Banquets, 40 Tashua Knolls Lane, Trumbull.
