With spring right around the corner, one way to get out and enjoy the sunshine while supporting local causes at the same time will be coming soon.
The Warren Street Social and Athletic Club is getting ready to present its 21 Annual St. Patrick’s Day Classic, touted as New England’s largest four-mile road race.
The event will be divided into five categories, the longest of which will be the Four Mile Road Race. For those looking for a lighter challenge, there will also be a Two Mile Fitness Walk, a One Mile Youth Race, a One Mile Family Fun Run, and a half mile Kids’ Fun Run.
Those who will not be in the races but still want to support the athletes and families taking on the challenge may want to get some Banners made to show that support.
The event is scheduled for March 13 at Jennings Beach, Fairfield. The kids’ run will kick off at 10:15 am, and the Youth Race will begin at 10:30 am, before the family run gets underway at 10:35 am. Finally, the main four mile race, and the Two Mile Fitness Walk will both begin at 11:00 am.
Proceeds from the event will go to the Sandy Hook Elementary School Scholarship Fund, the Fairfield YMCA, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
