Fairfield enjoys return of climbing challenge

Those in Fairfield who enjoy a good physical challenge while supporting a great cause will take interest in the 11th annual Step Up for the Brave Stair Climb Challenge coming to Fairfield in mid-August.

The Star Climb Challenge will have participants ascending and descending 500 stairs for 90 minutes, while the Walking Challenge will have them walking for 90 minutes on an indoor course. Those who opt for the Virtual Step Challenge will be tracking 40,000 steps they can do anywhere between August 11 and 15 and documenting it to the event's website, where both individuals and teams can win prizes. Those really looking to push themselves may sign up to do the all challenges - the run, stair climb, and 40,000 Step Up virtual run.

All fitness levels are welcome, and registration will be $43.40. Swag will include event T-Shirts and chances for prizes. Proceeds from the challenges will go to local programs aiding homeless veterans. Sponsorships are available ranging from $100 to $5,000.

Those who have a special interest in charity events like this occasionally go to flyer printing companies and place Flyers around town a couple of weeks before the big day.

The Step Up for the Brave Stair Climb Challenge will take place on Saturday, August 16 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Sacred Heart University Martire Family Arena, 3135 Easton Turnpike.
