Fairfield community takes a challenge

Fairfield Police Explorers, Greater Bridgeport Youth Orchestras, and M.S. Running Productions will be hosting Donnelly Dash in a few days.

The day will begin with registration for the Race, Walk and Kids Run. The non-competitive Kids Runs will be the first event on the track. Donna Cramond and Friends will be hosting. Kids will get snacks and finisher ribbons afterward.

The self-timed 1.8-mile noncompetitive walk will start half an hour after the start of the kids’ run. Dri-fit shirts will be given to the first 72 walkers who sign up on race day, and to all preregistrants. Music will be provided by GBYO at the start/finish line. There will be plenty of Donnelly Family Irish treats for everyone.

Ten minutes after the start of the walk, the 3.5-mile race will start. Awards will be given to three winners in each age category, and for the overall male and female winners. There will be a post-race buffet featuring tacos, baked goods, bagels, and fruit.

Again this year, the Fairfield Gaelic American Club will host its post-race gathering with free beverages, prizes, and Irish food.

All those who are interested will want to mark their Calendars for Sunday, April 9. The Dash will be at Tomlinson Middle School, 200 Unquowa Road here in Fairfield. Registration will begin at 8:30 am.

The Fairfield Gaelic American Club is located at 74 Beach Road, Fairfield.
