Fairfield celebrates dogwoods
Spring here in Fairfield means dogwood trees will be in bloom and many locals will be heading over to the 88 Dogwood Festival coming for two days in mid-May.
New England vendors will be selling photography, hand-crafted items, accessories, jewelry and artisanal foods. Children's bounce house, games, and crafts will be available on the playground. Live music will be provided by local adult and local talent.
Blossom Cafe will be open from noon to 2:00 pm with healthy fresh items for purchase, and local bakers will have pies, breads, cookies and cupcakes for sale in the Blossom Bakery. Food trucks will also be on-site.
Outdoor Design and Living will be bringing perennial, annuals, potted plants, hanging baskets and herbs for purchase to get Fairfield homes spruced up for spring.
Local volunteers will be leading Walking History Tours of local historic sites, and the annual Blessing of the Animals will take place at 11:00 am on Sunday.
Members of churches that feature festivals like this often support their causes with flyer printing designed at local print shops and placing flyers around their neighborhoods and on their workplace bullet boards.
The 88th Dogwood Festival will take place Saturday May 10th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, May 11th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church, 1045 Old Academy Road.
