The Connecticut Audubon Society is celebrating the return of spring with a peeper walk and an Easter egg hunt.
The CT Audubon Spring Peeper Prowl will be an evening stroll around the ponds and through the marsh at Larsen Sanctuary. The trek will be an opportunity to hear the lilt of elusive Spring Peeper frogs as they announce spring’s arrival. Hikers will also be on the outlook for other secretive animals such as wood frogs and spotted salamanders. Guests are advised to dress warmly, and bring flashlights and boots. Kids must be over the age of five and accompanied by an adult.
The Evening Peeper Prowl will begin at the Connecticut Audubon Society Center at Fairfield, 2325 Burr Street on Friday, April 12 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Reservations are required.
On April 20, local children can enjoy the annual CT Audubon Easter Egg Hunt at the center. The hunt will actually be two hunts – one beginning at 10:00 am and finishing at 1:30 pm, and the other starting at 1:00 pm and ending at 2:30 pm.
Both events will include an outdoor egg hunt for kids ages eight and under, and crafts with spring themes. The Easter Bunny will be on hand to greet and meet the little ones.
Attendees are advised to bring baskets and cameras. Pictures taken at events such as this are traditionally taken to nearby printing services and made into Holiday Cards.
