Fairfield area celebrates nations independence

Fairfield and the surrounding area will celebrate our Amercia’s independence, although not on the traditional 4th of July.

Festivities will start with BarnumPalooza with a full day of live music, carnival rides and food trucks.

As of the latest city brochure printing, Fairfield will hold its annual fireworks display the following evening. Fireworks will explode just after dark over Long Island Sound, which will make for spectacular viewing at Jennings and Penfield beaches.

The Independence Day Fireworks show will begin at Jennings Beach at 5:00 pm. Live entertainment from Marvin Parsons, the Sand Jam DJ, will take place from 6:00 until 8:45 pm.

Penfield Beach will also have live music from 6:45 pm until 9:00 pm. This beach has charcoal grills so families will be bringing matches, charcoal and food for picnics.

Parking will be limited to the first 300 parking pass holders at Jennings Beach and the first 100 parking pass holders at Penfield Beach.

For an intimate fourth, Ralph and Dar Fensore are opening their home for a free celebration. They will have the event catered and all the guests have to do is RSVP and bring refreshments and lawn chairs.

BarnumPalooza will be July 1 at Seaside Park, 1 Barnum Drive, Bridgeport. Admission will be free and fireworks will start at 9:00 pm.

Fairfield 4th of July fireworks will be Monday, July 2, and the Fensore event will be Saturday, July 7 from 3:00 pm until 11:30 pm at 660 Tashua Road, Trumbull.
