The Town of Fairfield invites all pre-school children and kids in kindergarten through 3rd grade to ferret out eggs at the upcoming annual Easter Egg hunt, sponsored by Fairfield’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Town Youth Council.
It will be a BYOB (bring your own basket) affair. Guests should arrive early and meet the Easter Bunny, and pictures can be taken with Mr. or Mrs. Easter Bunny for later postcard printing.
Donations of a dollar per person are welcomed to support the Jacky Durrell Memorial Service Award Scholarship created by the Town Youth Council. This program grants $1,000 scholarships to deserving Fairfield high school seniors, who have post-secondary educational financial needs, show leadership ability, and have exhibited community and school service.
Hundreds of children and their parents are expected to attend the egg hunt, and there is a possibility that the chicken character that appeared last Easter will also be there this year to accompany the two Easter Bunnies. Guests should be sure to be there on time, since it only takes a few minutes for all the decorated plastic eggs to be gathered. Eggs will hold traditional Easter fare like candy, trinkets, and gold coins.
The hunt will begin at 1:00 pm on March 28, at the South Pine Soccer Field, 210 Old Dam Road, Fairfield. If the weather is bad, call the hotline (203-256-3144) a few hours before the event to check for cancellation.
