Center opens season with improv performance

Later this week, the Fairfield University Quick Center be getting its 2014-15 season underway.

This year’s flagship performance will be an evening of improvised comedy with ‘Broadway’s Next Hit Musical’—an award-winning production straight from New York City.

Nine performers, two pianists, and an emcee make up the comedy troupe. The emcee, Greg Triggs, is one of the co-producers and will take made-up hit song titles suggested by the audience and create a scenario in which the audience votes for its favorite. Then, the master improvisers turn the winning song suggestion into a complete musical with songs, dialogue, characters, and plot twists; all of which are unscripted and different for every performance.

In reporting on the show, TimeOut New York magazine said:

“At last! A musical of, for, and by the people.”
