Golden mountain club to hold youth camp

The Colorado Mountain Club will be offering a summer camp in Golden to teach students unique mountain skills.

Mountain Leaders is a youth summer camp where students in grades 6-8 can partake in outdoor activities and learn useful survival skills. During the program, participants will be taught wilderness first aid, backcountry cooking, and basic techniques for traversing snow and glaciers. Children can also go rock climbing and play in the water for a day with paddle sports. Each session will begin at the American Mountaineering Center and will include snacks.

The Colorado Mountain Club is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1912. The group helps locals enjoy the mountains by offering educational programs and year-round recreational activities, including ice climbing, rock climbing, and fly fishing. The excursions provided by the club can be joined by those of any skill level. The organization uses its resources to protect wildlands and publish the Trail & Timberline magazine.

The youth summer camp will be held from August 8 to August 12, and each session will last from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The cost of the program is $645 for members of the Colorado Mountain Club and $695 for non-members. The fees will include shared group gear, shoes, transportation, and backcountry permits. Non-profit groups that hold camps similar to this may use flyer printing to promote their summer programming to local families.
