Arvada Center will be presenting two holiday performances on Zoom this month.
“The Family Tree: a Virtual Holiday Comedy” will be a 50-minute live virtual theatrical performance about one family’s Christmas gathering. Some audience members will choose which characters they wish to follow as new secrets, questioned traditions, and virtual interaction quirks come to light. Others can decide to just sit and enjoy the show.
Jessica Austgen has written the comedy and Lynne Collins will direct the nightly live show, which will be presented on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from December 2 through 20. General admission will be $20 and the Zoom link will be sent along with ticket confirmation.
Also, Dylan Thomas’s ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’ recording is being presented in a radio play format during the holiday season.
The story is a nostalgic tale of Christmas in Wales as remembered by a young boy. It evokes images of firesides, snow, and songs in an idyllic vision of family during the holidays.
This adaptation has been written by local actors Nathan Jones and Emily Van Fleet. Jason Ducat has created the sound design. Van Fleet will also be directing and has scored the musical arrangements.
The first presentation was yesterday, and it runs through December 27, with tickets starting at $10.
