Runners ready for Polar Prowl

Arvada runners will be lacing up for the 8th annual All-Out Polar Prowl coming early this month. Courses will be 5k, 10k and half-marathon. Proceeds will go to Multiple Sclerosis research.

Swag will include gender specific tech shirts sporting this year’s Polar Prowl graphic design, blue bear finisher medals and distance specific ribbons. Also included will be souvenir race bibs, free race photos, disposable timing chips, and breakfast burritos, oranges and bananas at the finish line. All participants will also receive a prize on their way out.

Other race perks will be brag tags for returnees, gear check, medical support and aid stations every 1.5 miles along the course. Same day results will be online and text results and placements will be provided to those runners who opt in.

Awards will be three deep including a female and male overall.

All three courses will be mostly on concrete with soft surfaces ever so often. They will all be out-and-backs leaving the Apex lot going southwest.

The 5k runners will turn around at the 1.55 mile marker on the Ralston Creek Trail. The 10 k course will turn around at the 3.1 mile marker and the half-marathon runs east on Ralston Trail, west to and around Blunn Reservoir loop and back on Ralston Creek Trail.

Polar Prowl will start at 9:00 am, January 9th beginning at the Apex Center, 13150 W 72nd Avenue.
