July fun offered by local recreation centers

Arvada’s Fitzmorris Recreation Center will be offering a Fitz Fest, while the Apex Recreation Center will offer Taste of Arvada and a Kids Tryathalon in July.

On July 8 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, the Fitzmorris Recreation Center’s outdoor swimming pool will feature Fitz Fest, a neighborhood summer pool party. Along with five hours of swimming, the event will have face painting, a bounce house, a carnival, yard games, and Jeremiah’s Italian Ice.

Admission will be $15 before the event and $20 at the gate. The Fitzmorris Recreation Center is located at 6340 Independence Street.

On July 13, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Apex Center, 13150 W. 72nd Avenue, the annual Taste of Arvada will be bringing food and drinks for purchase from local food vendors, restaurants, wineries, distilleries and breweries, and local businesses will be networking, and handing out Promotional Products. Artisans will display and sell their handmade original works and non-profit organizations will be distributing information about their missions and programs.

Early VIP admission will be $50, general admission will be $30, and admission for kids from three years old to twelve will be $15.

The Apex Center will also be having a Kids’ Tryathon on July 23 from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. Kids and their families will start with a dip in the indoor pool, then ride their bikes on the Ralston Creek Trail, before ending with a sprint to the finish line.
