BikeFriendly Arvada offers community rides

BikeFriendly Arvada, a bike-riding group of over 850 members, is hosting three community rides on Saturdays during April and May.

The BFA 1 Coffee Bike Ride will be the first ride of the season and free coffee will be available at 6590 Holman Street at the Red Silo for those arriving before 10:00 am on April 23. This will be an easy 12-mile route beginning at Red Silo Coffee Roasters.

On May 7, the BFA 2 & 3 Arvada City Council Rides the Arvada Bike Loop will begin in Olde Town Square, 5700 Olde Wadsworth Boulevard at 10:00 am. This will be the second year for the five-mile family ride and eight-mile rec ride. Riders will leave the square and head west to Wolff Park’s Arvada Bike Loop.

The BFA 4 Big Dry Creek Ride will begin at 10:00 am on May 5 at Wadsworth and 92nd Epic Mountain Gear in Westminster. The out-and-back ride will take participants along the Big Dry Creek Trail to Westminster at 144th Street. Since the trial is paved, bikes will be welcome whether they are of the mountain, road, or hybrid variety.

Riders are to arrive at least 20 minutes before each ride and leaders will be giving five-minute instructions beforehand. Prerequisites will be water in camelbacks or water bottles, sunscreen, helmets, sunglasses, and bikes that are safe and working properly.

Riders in groups such as this often get colorful shirts with the club’s Logo Design to show unity.
