Many runners here in Arvada will be lacing their tennis shoes and heading over to the 4th annual Strides for Sierra 5k run/walk coming to town in early October.
Early registration will be $22.20 for the 5k, $6.30 for the 1k fun run, and $64.60 for the four pack 5k. These prices include processing fees.
Registrants for the 5k who have signed up before tomorrow, September 19, are guaranteed race shirts sporting this year's graphic design, finisher bracelets, and chip-timed race bibs.
This will be a fundraiser for Sierra Elementary School. The route will take runners and walkers through neighborhoods around the school. Results will be posted on the event's webpage.
Starting at 10:00 am, children may participate in the 1k fun run around the school's track.
After the race, runners, walkers, and spectators are invited to go to the Race Village where there will be activities for the children, vendors, and food and drinks for purchase. All proceeds from this will go to the Sierra Elementary PTA.
Race packets will be available from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm at the Sierra Elementary on Friday, October 4, and on race day beginning at 8:00 am.
The Strides for Sierra 5k run/walk will take place Sunday, October 6 at the Sierra Elementary School, 7771 Oak Street. The 5k will begin at 9:00 am.
