Athletes here in Arvada will be lacing their tennis shoes and heading for the area’s traditional running event the Spring Fling Prairie Dog Half, 10k, and 5k, coming in mid-April.
The Half Marathon will have a $75 registration fee, the 10k is $45, the 5k will cost $35.
Late packet pickup and same day registration will begin at 7:00 am on race day. The untimed 100-yard free Kids’ Dash will take place from 7:45 am to 8:00 am. The Expo will open at 7:30 am and the Half Marathon will begin at 8:00 am, followed by the 5k and 10k races at 8:30 am. Awards for the 5k will begin at 9:15 am, and at 9:45 am for the Half Marathon and 10k awards. Awards for the Half Marathon age groups will begin at 10:15.
Swag for the adult races will include gender specific T-Shirts sporting the event's Logo Design and the event's graphic design, and pint glasses. Half Marathon finishers will receive medals that resemble Rubik's Cubes.
Attendees are asked to bring non-perishable food items for The Community Table, and new or gently used athletic shoes to donate to Sneakers4Good. Part of the race proceeds will also go to Growing Home.
The expo and starting point for the race will be at the Apex Center, 13150 West 72nd Street, on Sunday, April 14.
