Arvada readies for long-running harvest festival

The free family-friendly 97th Arvada Harvest Festival & Grand Parade is coming to downtown Arvada in mid-September.

Attendees can expect carnival rides, food, garden harvest contests, and a spelling bee.

The event will begin with a half-marathon, 5k, 10k and 10-mile runs. The starting line will be by the Olde Town Arvada library and it will end at McIlvoy Park. A post-race expo will feature entertainment, vendors, and awards ceremony.

The Teddy Bear Picnic will take place Sunday, September 11 for 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lutz Sports Complex Field #8. Everyone is invited to bring teddies or other stuffed animals, blankets, and food.

Kids’ Parade will take place there the day before on September 10. Check-in begins at 2:30 pm with the parade starting at 3:00 pm. Kids age 12 and under are invited to decorate their bikes, wagons, pets, trikes, and themselves using this year’s theme of “Dancing on the Field.”

The Grand Parade will have more than 100 entries and will start at 8:00 am on Taft Street and 58th Avenue, going east and ending at Miller Street. Winners of various categories including “Viewers' Choice” will be announced at the Grandview Avenue main stage. The theme this year will be “Dancing in the Streets.”

Parade unit members often have colorful T-Shirts printed with the sponsoring organization’s Logo Design.

Arvada Harvest Festival will run from September 9 through 11 at the Harold Lutz Sports Complex.
