Arvada asked to lace up its sneakers to fight esophageal cancer

A fundraiser is on the way for Arvada, and this will be the first year for this special event.

This will be the inaugural year for the Esophageal Cancer Walk/ Run, and its organizers have planned for it to be a yearly event. It has several goals, including raising funds, increasing the public’s awareness about the disease, and also to encourage people to be checked early for Signs of it in themselves.

Everyone is encouraged to bring along their friends and family, as well as their four-legged friends, to join in the fun. T-Shirts will be given to anyone who pays the registration fee by June 1, and a printer can use graphic design to craft items like these.

Both individual and group registration options are available for the day, and the price to take part starts at $20.00 each. Those who are age 12 and under will be allowed to participate free of charge. The walkers and runners will gather in the pavilion in Memorial Park before heading out. To help ensure the occasion raises as much as possible, sponsorships, opportunities for donating in-kind gifts and other options for giving have been created.

This event which will see members of the community hit the pavement in search of a cure for esophageal cancer, will be held on June 16. Its Facebook listing includes more details and a chance to register.
