FBM is a special distributer of mechanical insulation, suspended ceiling systems, and wallboard, with over 200 branches and in excess of 3,400 employees throughout the United States and Canada. The purchased company, Virginia Builders, has a 40-year history as an independent building material distributor.
The CEO of FBM, Ruben Mendoza, expanded on the acquisition:
“We are excited to announce that Virginia Builders will be joining the FBM team. Virginia Builders allows us to add a full line of specialty building products to the Richmond market with the addition of drywall, steel framing, and insulation.”
FBM will benefit from the strong commercial base that Virginia Builders’ brings with it, which will increase FBM’s influence with its existing large customers. Moreover, the items in which Virginia Builders deal will complement FBM’s existing ceiling trade in the area.
When companies expand their product line through an acquisition, they commonly engage in brand new catalog printing. Among other items handled by Virginia Builders that could be included are joint treatments, gypsum wallboards, insulation, steel framing, and tools, as well as other accessory products that residential and commercial ceiling and wall contractors may need.
