ImprovCity in Tustin will hold a multi-week improv series where people can learn how to use improvisation to create original sketches.
Improv to Sketch is a program that helps attendees improve their approach to creating comedic sketches. The lessons will show students how improvised scenes can serve as a foundation for polished sketches for the stage. Participants will work in small groups to make scenes and rehearse them. At the end of the educational series, the students will get to perform their scenes in front of friends and family at the ImprovCity stage.
The instructor for the workshop is Devin Dugan, an experienced improv comedian, director, and writer who is the founder of ImprovCity. He has been featured as a writer on projects such as The Sam & Sadie Show, Nifty Fifties, and They Call Me George. Dugan has worked with comedy troupes at venues like The Second City Hollywood and The National Comedy Theatre. His organization, ImprovCity, holds many live shows throughout the week and also has House Team Shows.
The sketch comedy workshop will be held every Sunday from January 4th to February 22nd, and each class will last from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm. The sketch showcase at ImprovCity will be on Saturday, February 28th at 5:00 pm. The cost of the workshop is $299 per person. Entertainment venues that host informative comedy series like this may use poster printing services to advertise their workshops.
