Everything was very familiar to anybody who has been to this Flea Market before. Treasure hunters rummaged through racks of vintage clothes, heirloom jewelry was on display and handmade furniture along with garden chairs were available for sale.
Vendors at markets like the Tustin Flea Market often visit Print shops to customize their booths and to create print products for potential repeat customers.
Doughnuts, coffee and other refreshments are usually on sale but were not available on this occasion. Scenes like this are common all over Orange County as the state is now starting to reopen. Dana White, one of the organizers for the flea market who started it up 16 years ago, commented to say:
“We’re doing it in little steps. We are practicing social distancing, which means 25% fewer vendors. There is hand sanitizer at every booth.”
She also said that the people who came to the Flea Market once it reopened were excited for the hunt. She believes that all that time spent at home gave people an urge to pursue artistic endeavors such as shopping.
As a one-off, this market happened on the fifth Sunday, but the Tustin Flea Market will once again now be held on the third Sunday of every month.
