Each year, people from far and wide take part in the Grand Canyon Challenge, and a presentation has been planned for Stockton that will give further details about a way of getting to see this natural wonder up close and personal.
Chris Casado, who is both an avid hiker and cofounder of this initiative, will facilitate the Backpacking the Grand Canyon workshop, which will include a visual tour explaining his last trip to the canyon. On his hike, he followed the Grand Canyon adventure, which is a looped trail that covers a distance of 35 miles. He will also be discussing the highlights of his adventures, and sharing pictures and details of the animals and plants he encountered.
Along with his visual presentation, Casado will also be sharing tips and advice for those who may want to test their limits themselves by tackling the challenge. He will discuss obtaining permits, what gear to take, safety, how to be prepared for the weather, and other information that can help potential participants to get the most form their excursion. Brochures that give more information about the trail can be prepared for distribution during an event like this.
The workshop, which is being hosted by the Trans-Sierra Club, has been planned for August 10 at 5757 Pacific Ave. Both further details and a chance to sign up to participate can be found on its Facebook listing.
